South End Modern.
A renovation and rationalization of an existing quirky 1970’s addition to an older house. The new design brought together a more functional kitchen and washroom, and a brighter, calmer feel to the spaces, while tying it in more sensitively to the rest of the structure.
The floor is 30″ x 30″ concrete-tone porcelain tile. A tile backsplash evokes the same warm wood as the front skirt of the island. The cabinets themselves are high gloss lacquer, and between the skirt and the cabinet are shelves for wine. Overall, the details are spare, sturdy, and modern.
